Jivin G. Tantisira, MD

Dr. Tantisira is an Ophthalmologist specializing in Cataract Surgery. He received his medical degree from Yale University, during which time he was a fellow in the National Institutes of Health Summer Research Fellowship Program, and also a fellow in the National Cancer Institute’s Summer Oncology Fellowship Program. He did his internship at Emanuel Hospital and Health Center in Portland, Oregon, and his ophthalmology residency at the University Health Center Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After the completion of his residency program, he did medical missionary work at St John’s Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel. Dr. Tantisira came to Maui in 1997 and has been practicing as an ophthalmologist at the Aloha Eye Clinic. He is currently the medical director and chief surgeon at the Aloha Eye Clinic. He has been involved with numerous community activities, including being Chief of Staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center in 2003 and is a Diplomate of The American Board of Ophthalmology. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Diana and his three sons.

David Anzai, OD

Dr. David M. Anzai is a second-generation Optometrist. His father opened his practice in Kahului in 1957 before relocating to Wailuku on Market Street. After working at his father’s office for many summers while attending Maui High School, he decided to attend Pacific University in Oregon and majored in Biology. He then went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry in 1984. Dr. Anzai is happily married and enjoys golfing with friends.

Jeffrey A. Guild, OD

Dr. Guild is an Optometrist in Primary and Post-Operative care. He has 15 years of professional experience and is a ten-year member of the American Optometric Association. He graduated in 1997 from the New England College of Optometry. He completed clinical rotations at Dorchester Community Clinic, South Texas Cataract/Laser, and at the VA Clinic in Portland Oregon.  He specializes in Orthokeratology and Low vision. Dr. Guild is lives in Kihei with his wife Brook and enjoys golf, ping pong, paddle boarding, reading, bowling, and all outdoor activities.

Nina Nemetz, OD

Dr. Nemetz is an Optometrist with training in ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, pediatrics, and all forms of primary care Optometry. She was born and raised in Linz, Austria, and immigrated to the United States in 1996. She received her Bachelor of Science from Portland State University and her Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University in 2009. She moved to Maui in 2017 and likes to hike, kayak, paddleboard, and snorkel. She also thrives on sharing the benefits and joys of exercising as a certified group exercise instructor.

Dr. Parlin, MD

Dr. Parlin is an Ophthalmologist with emphasis in Cataract surgery and refractive surgical procedures. He attended Tulane University School of Medicine on a US Army Health Professions Scholarship. He completed his Internship at Madigan Army Medical Center and his residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium program in San Antonio.  He has been practicing in Hawaii for the past four years.  Dr. Parlin currently lives in Oahu with his wife Anna, a Retinal Specialist, and their dog Remy.

Abigail Timmerman, OD

Dr. Timmerman is an Optometrist in Primary and Post-operative care. She is from Michigan where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ferris State University. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon. She has had a variety of Optometric experience including, an Indian Reservation in rural Alaska and the Lexington Veterans Association.  Dr. Timmerman currently lives in Wailuku and enjoys snowboarding, hiking, fishing/hunting, exploring new cities, and is currently learning to surf.

Gerald Carp, MD

Dr. Carp is an Ophthalmologist with many years of experience. He received his medical degree from West Virginia University’s School of Medicine. He performed his internship at San Francisco General Hospital and his residency at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in Lexington. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has received the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award.  Dr. Carp enjoys sailing and fly fishing.

Dr. Hartman, OD

Dr. Hartman is an optometrist focused on primary eye care for adults and children, as well as post-surgical eyecare. He specializes in pediatric eyecare, myopia management in children, diabetic eye exams, double vision problems and contact lenses. He has 25 years of experience as a Board Certified Doctor of Optometry, and has been a member of the American Optometric Association since.

In 1992, he graduated from the University of Barcelona in Tarrasa, Spain. He then migrated to the US where he received his doctorate in optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2007. He completed a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease in 2008. As a Preceptor of the Pediatric Clinic of the Eye Institute of Philadelphia, he completed rotations at the VA Hospital in Philadelphia, at the Ginsburg Retina Institute, and at the Brilliant Low Vision Center.

Dr. Hartman is also an ASA certified basic keelboat instructor and loves sailing, kayaking and all boating that does not include an engine. He moved to Maui to share his love for the ocean with his wife and their two young children. When they are not in the water, the Hartman family also enjoys hiking outdoors. From the mountains to the ocean, they felt right at home in Maui.
